Intersectionality, agency and take‐up of benefits among families living in poverty

Non-take-up of benefits is a common problem in welfare states. Knowledge gaps are fundamental factor such non-take-up. Through critical social structure and agency lens, the objective current study was to examine contribution different individual variables access knowledge on rights among families living poverty. Specifically, we focused intersection nationality (Arab-Israeli versus Jewish-Israeli) family (single-parent two-parent). The findings relied secondary analysis an administrative database program for sample consisted 1512 families, whom 839 were Jewish-Israeli 673 Arab-Israeli. Our showed that intersected correlated with families' rights. Jewish two-parent had most economic privileges, but single-parent highest Arab worst economic, personal support conditions lowest conclusion this looking at non-take-up through intersectional lens can help us understand more clearly barriers preventing take-up. Social policy implications discussed.
